Red Bull Music Academy Weekender Zürich: Locarno Festival presents Nicola Ratti Live Scoring of Vampyr (1932) by Carl Theodor Dreyer

Die Red Bull Music Academy, eine globale Initiative zur Förderung musikalischer Kreativität, veranstaltet weltweit Festivals und Workshops. Im Rahmen des zweiten «Weekender» Festivals in Zürich präsentiert die RBMA in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Locarno Festival im Filmpodium eine neue Live-Vertonung von Carl Theodor Dreyers klassischem Gruselfilm Vampyr durch den Mailänder Sound Designer, Komponisten und Musiker Nicola Ratti. Bei dieser Zusammenarbeit mit dem Locarno Festival wird Nicola Ratti Carl Theodor Dreyers Vampyr im Filmpodium live vertonen. Es ist das erste Mal, dass er seine Synthesizerkünste diesem Schwarzweissklassiker widmet. Vampyr handelt von den unheimlichen Erlebnissen des Allan Gray, eines jungen Reisenden und Studenten des Okkulten. Der italienische Musiker und Sound Designer Nicola Ratti ist auf dem Gebiet der experimentellen und minimalistischen Komposition zum Begriff geworden. Seine Musik veröffentlichte er bei Labels wie Boomkat Editions, Kning Disk, Anticipate und Preservation. Rattis neues Album «The Collection» erscheint diesen Oktober bei Room40. Unter Rattis Regime wird Vampyr zu einem exquisiten Tanz mit dem Teufel im Mondschein.

In this collaboration with the Locarno Festival, Nicola Ratti will score Carl Theodor Dreyer’s Vampyr live at Filmpodium. It’s the first time that Ratti will dedicate his synth efforts to the black and white classic. Vampyr is the story about the strange things that occur to one Allan Gray, a young traveller and a student of the occult. The Italian musician and sound designer Nicola Ratti has become a household name in the realm of experimental and minimalist composition. He put out music on labels such as Boomkat Editions, Kning Disk, Anticipate or Preservation. Ratti’s new record «The Collection» will be released by Room40 this October. Under Ratti’s command, Vampyr is set to become an exquisite dance with the devil in the moonlight.
